GLOCK, Inc. to Make Significant Donations at 2011 AUSA Annual Meetings
Manufacturer continues philanthropic efforts by donating $30,000 to DEA-SBF and making two pistol donations during Best Warrior Competition Awards Ceremony
Smyrna, GA – GLOCK, Inc. will make two significant donations during the Association of the United States Army Annual Meetings, held Oct. 10-12, in Washington, DC. GLOCK Vice President, Josh Dorsey will personally present a check for $30,000 to the Drug Enforcement Administration Survivors Benefit Fund (DEA SBF) during the ceremony at the GLOCK booth (#3339) on Tuesday, Oct. 11th at 2:00pm. On hand to receive the donation for the DEA SBF will be Richard Crock, Chairman/ Executive Director of the DEA SBF, and James McGivney, representing the Board of Directors of the organization. This will mark the second significant donation to the DEA SBF by GLOCK, Inc. “GLOCK, Inc. has a long history of supporting the individuals and families of those that go in harm’s way,” stated Dorsey. “We are proud to contribute to these two great organizations which make such a vital impact in the communities in which we all live.” The DEA SBF is a non-profit charitable organization that supports the surviving family members of United States Department of Justice, Drug Enforcement Administration Employees and deputized Task Force Officers killed in the line of duty. The company will also donate two pistols to the NCO and Soldier of the Year winners during the Best Warrior awards ceremony, held during the Annual Meeting, on Monday, Oct. 10. Competition winners will be announced at the event. “GLOCK is proud to celebrate the NCO and Soldier of the Year through donations such as these,” said Dorsey. “These men and women who continually demonstrating their Army aptitude by conquering warfare simulations, board interviews, essays, physical fitness tests, warrior tasks and battle drills relevant to today’s war fighter environment.” The Best Warrior Competition consists of 26 of the Army’s finest Warriors, representing 13 commands, who will report to Fort Lee, Va., Oct. 3-7 to compete in what is described as the “Super Bowl” of Army competitions. The Best Warrior will celebrate its tenth anniversary this year. Sergeant Major of the Army Ray Chandler will oversee the annual competition, which names the Department of the Army’s Soldier and Noncommissioned Officer of the Year. Soldiers selected to compete for the prestigious Best Warrior titles have mastered a series of benchmarks throughout the year. All Army active duty, National Guard and Reserve component Soldiers are eligible to compete. This year’s warriors include the ranks of private through specialist, and warriors for NCO of the Year include ranks corporal through sergeant first class. About GLOCK, Inc.
