Texas department graduates new officers, welcomes new recruits to academy

WICHITA FALLS, Texas — As 12 rookies step onto the streets of Wichita Falls today, 12 citizens are getting their pens, notebooks and backpacks ready to go to the classroom to follow in their steps.

The Wichita Falls Police Department graduated 12 new officers Friday morning, including one man whose father still works with the department. The next police academy - the 62nd - will start in full swing Monday morning as 12 new employees report for duty.
