Cardinal Peak and Linear Systems Integrate the CaseCracker Interview Management System with DIMS
Cardinal Peak and Linear Systems announced the integration of the CaseCracker Interview Management System with Linear Systems’ DIMS (Digital Information Management System) to provide investigators with a complete digital media management system.
Increased instances of challenges to the validity of digital content introduced as evidence, combined with liability due to accidental release of photos or video crime scenes or suspects demands very strict enforcement of chain of custody policies. The goal is to give investigators a policy based system through which to access all digital evidence. CaseCracker automates the acquisition of video and audio to preserve potential evidence acquired from digitally equipped interview rooms. DIMS is a product that automates the process of acquisition, redundant storage, authentication, access control, log tracking, and output of digital photographic, audio, and video evidence to insure and maintain a complete chain of custody. The integration of CaseCracker and DIMS automates the chain of custody and implementation and enforcement of an agency’s policy and procedures, optimized communication, increases efficiency, reduces liability, and eliminates challenges to authenticity, therefore saving time and money. This is the key to improving successful conviction rates.
“Cardinal Peak is excited to link CaseCracker with DIMS to give our customers what they have been asking for, a single user interface and centralized, secure, redundant storage for all media evidence in a simple-to-use product,” comments Howdy Pierce, Managing Partner at Cardinal Peak. “This project is a great example of how law enforcement can use information technology to increase conviction rates, protect individual rights, and reduce costs."
In law enforcement and government, the use of digital interview rooms has become an important tool in the investigative process. "The Cardinal Peak CaseCracker system provides the quality and reliability that agencies require. We were impressed with CaseCracker and felt that by integrating it with DIMS, we can jointly provide the most powerful, cost-effective solution for the management and chain of custody of this critical evidence" said Chris Parsons, President of Linear Systems.
