Armor Forensics Introduces New Laser Scaling Product Based on Technology Developed at NASA

JACKSONVILLE, FL. - Armor Forensics, under a patent license, with the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA), is introducing a new laser scaling device that will be marketed to the law enforcement community to assist crime scene investigators. The LSD-1 instantly shoots photography without disturbing the crime scene.

LSD-1 utilizes technology developed by NASA to measure defects in the external fuel tank of the space shuttle. Engineers developed the fixed dual beam unit to give technicians the ability to scale defects without the need for physical contact with the protective coating on the tank and therefore determine if repairs were needed.

Pursuant to NASA's Innovative Partnership Program Program, Armor Forensics licensed the LSD-1 primarily for marketing to the law enforcement community. Coupled with a measuring program, also developed by NASA, the unit provides the crime scene investigator the ability to shoot photographs with a scale without having to physically penetrate the scene. The ability keeps the scene's components intact and pristine for the collection of information and evidence. The price for the LSD-1 and software is $399.00.
