Utah K-9 catches man who fled in car, on foot
The Deseret Morning News SALT LAKE CITY — A routine traffic stop turned into a car and foot chase late Tuesday that ended with the fleeing suspect being bitten by a police K9. Just after 11 p.m. a Utah Highway Patrol trooper was attempting to pull over a vehicle near 900 W. South Temple on a minor traffic violation when the car took off, said UHP trooper Cameron Roden. The chase ended five minutes later when the man ran a red light and hit another vehicle. No one was injured in the vehicle that was hit. A man and a woman were inside the fleeing vehicle. After the crash, the man, who was driving, got out and ran. About five minutes after the crash, a police K9 was able to catch the man, Roden said. The man was treated for minor dog bite injuries at a local hospital and later booked into jail for investigation of several offenses. Copyright 2008 The Deseret Morning News
