By Jeremy Hainsworth

VANCOUVER, British Columbia — A public inquiry into the death of a Polish traveler who was shocked with a Taser is on hold after an e-mail emerged showing police discussed using the stun gun before they arrived at the airport.

A government lawyer gave a tearful apology Friday for not providing the e-mail earlier. The head of the inquiry, Thomas Braidwood, says he is appalled.

Video of Robert Dziekanski's death was widely seen on the Internet. Dziekanski had apparently become upset after waiting 10 hours at the airport for his mother. The officers responded to calls about a man throwing furniture.

The inquiry was nearing its end, but will now be put on hold until September.
