FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. — The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner has concluded that a severe cocaine overdose was what killed a man who died after Fayetteville police stunned him with a Taser in August.

Michael Evans, 56, had more than four times a lethal amount of cocaine in his system when an officer shot him with a Taser on Aug. 25, according to an autopsy report released Tuesday.

Evans died as a result of a cocaine overdose, although the electric shock contributed to his death, the report says.
