NYC Cops Use TASER to Foil Machete Horror
A machete-wielding man barricaded himself and his girlfriend in her Brooklyn apartment yesterday, turned on the stove and threatened to light a match before he was subdued by police, cops said.
The woman, who had been beaten with a baseball bat, was able to escape during the hour-long standoff, police said.
When cops entered the apartment about 1:40 p.m., they found Horsone Moore, 25, holding a machete to his neck and threatening suicide, police said. Emergency Service Unit cops used a Taser gun to overpower Moore, who was taken to Kings County Hospital, where he is in stable condition, police said.
Rescue workers were first called to the Halsey St., Bushwick, brownstone after neighbors complained of a strong odor of gas.
The couple has a child and a history of domestic troubles, a police source said.
"I''m surprised it went this far," said neighbor Eddie Hampton.
Moore has been charged with assault, unlawful imprisonment and reckless endangerment.
