STOCKTON, Calif. — Police used batons to help arrest a man who grabbed for an officer's weapon.
Barike Wiltz, 34, was intoxicated and refused to leave a sidewalk bench when police attempted to detain him, 9News.com reported.
A nearby store owner captured a video of the suspect wrestling with an officer and reaching for his gun multiple times. At one point during the struggle, he broke free and fled a block away, where three officers met him with batons.
"The suspect grabbed the officers gun and tried to pull it out of the holster, because of that, we used any force necessary to stop the suspect and make an arrest," Det. Joe Silva said.
Wiltz, a parolee, is being held at San Joaquin County Jail.
