Video: Police subdue repeat robber with TASER

Suspect faces charges of grand theft, resisting arrest with violence and probation violation

WESH

MELBOURNE, Fla. — Pawn shop owners in Melbourne shared surveillance video of a man they said tried to steal a gun twice before police subdued him with a Taser.

Outdoor Pawn and Gun owners said they noticed a gun was missing, then spotted it in a man's back pocket.

Store owners grabbed the gun and asked the man, identified as Sharay Butler, to leave. He left and employees called police.

A search was not necessary because Butler returned to the store and began talking to employees as if nothing happened.

Officers took Butler away from the merchandise to question him. The man resisted, so officers deployed a stun gun.

"The officer went and tried to make the arrest. The suspect resisted so he then used a Taser," Lt. Dan Lynch.

Butler now faces a host of charges, including grand theft, resisting arrest with violence and probation violation.
