Protective Products Announces Receipt of Order for Replacement of Second Chance Vest

Now-bankrupt manufacturer warns devices may be defective

Livingston County's 72 sheriff deputies and other sworn personnel were scheduled to be measured this week for new bulletproof vest to replace the potentially defective vests they've been wearing, said Undersheriff Mike Murphy.

The County Board of Commissioners Monday evening approved the purchase of 75 new vests to replace those, in service for the past three to six years, that the manufacturer recently said could fail.

The new vest are manufactured by Protective Products International in Sunrise, Fla, said Murphy.
