New World Systems’ Provides Software to Terrell (TX) Police Service to Help Enhance Community Services
Troy, Michigan, March 2, 2005 — New World Systems, a leading provider of enterprise-wide software solutions for the public sector, announced that the Terrell Police Service in Texas signed a contract valued at approximately $700,000 for its Microsoft Windows®-based Aegis®/MSP Public Safety software and services.
New World’s integrated, comprehensive, software solution, including Computer Aided Dispatch (CAD), Law Enforcement Records, Corrections Management, Mobile Computing, Field Reporting and Handheld Mobile, will replace a system purchased in 2002 that never worked as promised by the vendor.
“We are excited about implementing New World’s public safety software to increase efficiency and help us enhance the services we provide our community,” said Chief of Police Todd Miller, Terrell Police Service. “The software will allow us to analyze crime data to target community problem areas and better allocate resources based on factual information. This is completely new functionality for us.”
After looking at several public safety software vendors, Terrell Police Service chose New World because it is a stable, proven company in the industry.
“New World has a large customer base in Texas, which was extremely important to us,” said Miller. “We spoke with several happy New World customers in the area and feel that we will get the software promised to us and the support we will need in the future. We feel confident in our decision.”
A Windows solution was a requirement for the agency, as they needed a system that was compatible with their currently wireless network. Windows also provides users with a familiar platform that is easy to use and makes information easily accessible. New World’s Aegis/MSP software was developed in-house using industry standard Windows 2000 Server and SQL Server 2000 database.
Aegis/MSP provides public safety officials with a proven industry solution. Designed by public safety professionals, New World’s software meets the needs of communications, records, law enforcement, and corrections personnel. The easy-to-use software provides real-time information within seconds of requesting it, helping increase safety for officers and citizens.
New World’s software will help 36 sworn officers and ten communications personnel provide enhanced services to the citizens of Terrell and respond to approximately 35,000 calls for service a year.
