Bloomington, Ill. Police Department Licenses Its First Dispatching Software from New World Systems
Troy, Michigan — New World Systems, a leading provider of enterprise-wide software solutions for the public sector, announced Bloomington, Ill. Police Department signed a contract valued at approximately $900,000 for its Aegis®/MSP Public Safety software and services.
Bloomington Police Department is breaking away from a combined countywide communications center to open its own dispatching center, and purchasing its first Computer Aided Dispatching (CAD) and Mobile Computing software is a major step.
“We found a company with a good reputation in the industry and with several happy customers in the state,” said Lieutenant Bob Siron, Bloomington Police Department. “During the process, we looked at several vendors, but New World met all of our requirements.”
The IT department required the software to be on the Windows platform, because it is an easy to use, familiar system for everyone. New World’s Aegis/MSP solution was developed in-house using proven Microsoft technology, including industry standard Windows 2000 Server and SQL Server 2000 database. The familiar Windows platform will reduce training time for the department.
“The CAD system will streamline dispatching operations,” said Lt. Siron. “For example, the mapping capabilities show the dispatcher the location of each unit, so the closest unit is dispatched to the scene. We will also be able to design our own run cards to ensure our processes are followed and each call for service gets the appropriate service and equipment at the scene. Overall, we will decrease response times and enhance services to our community.”
New World’s software will help 90 sworn officers, 98 firefighters, and several new communications personnel enhance services to approximately 70,000 citizens in the city.
“The department is looking forward to working with New World and implementing Aegis/MSP, as the company has worked with us and stood by us throughout the decision process,” said Lt. Siron.
