One Mold, Many Options, Save Money With SymbolArts
How can one mold offer multiple options and save your department money at the same time?
If designed right, a single mold can be used to produce coins, key chains, key fobs, and pins. This saves money, since separate molds carry added charges for each design.
It's a simple trick. Design the coin with a square or round loop at the top. If you want a coin the loop is just cut off during the manufacturing process. If you want the key chain, the loop has been properly designed into the mold. This mold also has the potential to be used for a pin as well.
The Grand Junction Peace Officers Association in Colorado did just that. They took advantage of this option and produced striking results. One mold was used to create a coin, key fob, and money clip. Another mold was used to produce a pin and a second money clip design. This method resulted in five products using only two molds.
A department can achieve a consistent look throughout their line of products, branding their department with a distinct design and creating a consistent, unified identity that sets them apart.
