Decatur Enhances Customer Service Program
DECATUR IL - Thousands of law officers partnering with one of the nation's oldest radar manufacturing companies now have access to service and support from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.
Decatur Electronics, Inc, initiated the new service hours to better serve more than 15,000 of its customers, according to Michael Redlinger, Customer Service Manager for Decatur. It previously provided an industry-leading 2-day turnaround on radar repairs.
"Making this move allows us to provide service to our customers from coast to coast," Michael said. "We'll be available from 8 a.m. on the east coast to 5 p.m. on the west coast."
Decatur manufactures radar for law enforcement, in-car video systems and radar speed and message trailers. The company elevated the partnership of manufacturers with law enforcement by driving customer service and pioneering a 2-day return policy 13 years ago. DEI representatives help more than 1,000 customers a month with their new and previously purchased products.
Jim Sanner, Decatur Electronics' CEO, said commitment to customers is paramount to Decatur.
"When you've been in business for 50 years, you learn your customers' needs and how you can meet them," he said. "Our No. 1 priority is our customers' service. Providing in-house customer service to all the officers nationwide is a great complement to that policy."
Decatur Electronics operates in Decatur, IL, where founder Boyce Brown created the first radar specifically designed to meet the needs of police officers in the 1950s. The company also manufactures radar for OEM products for companies including Harley-Davidson™, Polaris™, and Jugs™.
