BIO-key® Expands Deployments in Key Metropolitan Areas, Improving Safety of Front Line Personnel and Their Communities

BIO-key International, Inc. (OTC Bulletin Board: BKYI), a leader in wireless public safety and finger-based biometric identification announced today that several principle law enforcement customers are extending their MobileCop™ and PocketCop® implementations and, consequently, increasing the magnitude of information sharing within their agencies. These extensions continue to confirm the reliance that metropolitan area police and sheriff agencies - seeking to deploy mobile data sharing solutions - place on BIO-key for the provision of critical information to officers in the field.

Recent expansions to existing BIO-key deployments across the nation include;

  • Baltimore Police Department - adding extensive field reporting capabilities to its existing mobile data application allowing them to expeditiously complete over 15,000 crime reports monthly;
  • Metropolitan Police Department in Washington, DC - one of the ten largest municipal police departments in the country and the primary law enforcement agency for the District of Columbia is upgrading its mobile data software to further protect the department’s 5,000 police officers and our nation’s capital;
  • North Las Vegas Police Department - increasing the number of mobile licenses, covering over 400 commissioned officers who protect more than 200,000 civilians using BIO-key’s secure wireless information sharing capabilities;
  • Chisago County (Minnesota) Sheriff’s Office - expanding their participation in a consortium of twelve independent agencies across 20 cities and townships enabling the Sheriff’s Office vehicles to be able to communicate and share data, across a secured wired and wireless network.
According to Ken Souza, BIO-key’s Law Enforcement Division General Manager, “These recent deployments are another indication of the confidence that public safety agencies nationwide have in BIO-key. These sizeable agencies recognize BIO-key’s strength as the leading provider of mobile data solutions that deliver federal, state, and local criminal information to users in the field, when and where it is needed most.” Souza added, “These agencies are providing mission critical public safety information to their front line field personnel resulting in more efficient use of their time, lower taxpayer expenditures and a safer environment.”
