NVS Launches New 25 Micron Thermal Imager - MX-2A
NVS Introduces Next Generation of the Market Favorite MX-2
DALLAS - Night Vision Systems (NVS) has announced the next generation of the popular MX-2 thermal imaging camera, the MX-2A. This versatile camera is the first handheld thermal imager to be developed by NVS and utilize a DRS Sensors & Targeting Systems, Inc. - Infrared Technologies Division sensor. The MX-2A features 320x240 resolution and is designed to meet the tough requirements of military customers, as well as federal agencies and law enforcement.
The new MX-2A features a wide array of significant improvements, including enhanced performance with a 25 micron detector. It is 30% smaller than its predecessor and is nearly one pound lighter. A reduction in power requirements translates to fewer batteries needed to power the unit. The new MX-2A also features multiple remote video ports and has a significantly improved detachable eye pod, perfect for remote and covert viewing.
The original MX-2 was designed and fielded by the United States Army in 2004 and the next generation MX-2A is now being introduced as a result of funding from a Congressional plus up based on requests from users in the field.
"The MX-2 is a flagship product for us and has always been in high demand," said Chris Wright, Vice President and General Manager, Night Vision Systems. "We know the MX-2A will follow quickly in its footsteps. The excellent performance, versatility and unique ancillary equipment available for the MX-2A make it a distinctive offering for our troops abroad and those protecting our homeland in the United States."
The MX-2A is an ideal tool for surveillance, reconnaissance, target detection, search and rescue and general observation. It can be used as a handheld system, tripod mounted or even weapon mounted and used as a weapon sight. Optional accessories available include a thermal afocal lens and a head/helmet mount for the detachable eye pod.
