Fire and Police Departments in Irving, TX Choose LDV's Custom Hybrid Aluminum Body for Their New Mobile Command Center
 IRVING, TX - Funded by Homeland Security grants, a customized mobile command post built by LDV, Inc., has been delivered for joint use by the city's Fire and Police departments.
The vehicle's custom hybrid aluminum body is made of a strain-hardened, .125 inch aluminum alloy that is chemically bonded to the sidewalls. This is 30% to 70% less expensive than a custom rescue body. This new command center features dual 100 inch by 30 inch commercial slide-outs with weather-tight seals and a heavy-duty roof constructed with NFPA tread plate.
The interior features powder-coated aluminum cabinets with anodized aluminum frames that are light-weight and durable. Roof-mount, ducted air conditioning vents were provided to increase air circulation, and reduce noise levels. LED lights are used throughout, and it is equipped with a 2200 watt universal power supply back up system.
The command post has ten flat screen monitors capable of receiving digital satellite, closed circuit and local T.V. signals. All are high resolution and equipped with a computer-to-video scan converter. Video can then be recorded through multiple DVD/VHS players/recorders with frame advance, screen zoom and flash rewind.
Expandable electronic racks have been pre-wired for 31 radios, a 32 jack certified CAT6 computer network and a combination landline/cellular phone system
Other features included in this vehicle are:
- A Kenworth T-8 with a CAT C11 diesel rated at 43,800 pounds GVWR
- Twin air bag mounted 20 kW Kohler diesel generators exhausted through the roof
- DirecTV D10 DSS receiver, UL and FCC approved
- Three 25-foot heavy-duty interior telescoping pneumatic masts with 40 feet of cable each
- 3600 watt remote-control light tower
- Two 500 watt telescoping lights
