SymbolArts Growth To Bring New Jobs To South Ogden
Local Company Buys Out California Company
SOUTH OGDEN---SymbolArts, a South Ogden company that sells badges, patches, pins and coins to police and fire departments and the military; has purchased PinPros, a pin manufacturer located in San Diego, California. SymbolArts will relocate PinPros to its offices located in South Ogden near where Washington, Harrison and I-89 merge.
The company is in the process of enlarging its offices to house the additional employees and PinPros' manufacturing equipment. The buyout was finalized February 21.
Craig Fry, Chief Operating Officer for SymbolArts, says the acquisition will expand the company's capacity as well as enhance the product offering to its customers.
"While PinPros sells pins and coins similar to us, they had manufacturing capabilities that we didn't have. They can manufacture pins in as little as two days. Right now it takes about three to four weeks for SymbolArts to get pins. It expands our capacity to better meet our customer's needs with pins in a shorter amount of time," Fry said.
The move will also expand SymbolArts into a new market.
Fry explained, "SymbolArts primary focus is on the public safety and military markets, but PinPros customer base is largely corporate, so that gives us an additional market to serve."
The South Ogden Company has become known world wide for the high quality products it produces, which are made using superior materials and processes. The last three years have seen average annual growth rates exceeding 35%. Fry attributes this to its growing reputation for quality products and excellent customer service. SymbolArts is now perceived as one of the largest badge, patch, pin and coin manufacturers in the United States. Its jewelry quality badges adorn the uniforms of an increasing number of police forces, including the Iraqi police.
The expansion is expected to be complete by May 1 or earlier. There will be five new positions added immediately, with more to follow. But regardless of how much SymbolArts may grow; South Ogden will always be its home.
"We want to support the community. We enjoy being here, it's been a good place for us," Fry said.
