ITI Enhances the Public Safety Software Suite with Driver's License Scanning for NCIC Inquiries and E-Ticket Writing
ST. LOUIS, MO — Information Technologies, Inc. (ITI) has again improved officer safety while speeding up license checks and completing traffic citations with the addition of a driver's license scanner to our mobile computing offering. This new capability works with ITI’s NCIC interface and electronic ticket module to give law enforcement a faster and safer method for issuing citations and warnings, while ensuring the accuracy and readability of important offender data. The driver’s license scanning is part of ITI’s Enterprise edition Public Safety Software Series.
Officers using our system will now have the ability to enter data once through the electronic capture of information from any state issued driver’s license via a license scanner. Upon capture, the software forwards the information to our state National Crime Information Center (NCIC) interface or other vendor’s court applications to obtain the driver’s license status, driving history and active warrants. The data is then used to automatically print a fully customizable citation or warning through a compact mobile printer designed to withstand a harsh vehicle environment. This efficient and streamlined process enhances officer safety by allowing them focus their attention on the offender, rather than keying data into a computer or hand writing information on one or more forms.
All collected data is stored in the agency’s Records Management System and can be electronically forwarded to municipal or state court for disposition. For agencies with the additional burden of racial profiling data collection, that process is now automatic.
“Handling citations and racial profiling reports in the mobile office through the use of our Drivers License Scanner is all about officer safety” states ITI’s President, Dave Lommel. “We are committed to making this burdensome process faster and safer for the officer on the street. With less time spent looking at a computer keyboard, officers will now be able to focus more on the subject of their stop." Our electronic driver’s license scanner is not solely for vehicle use, and may be deployed in jail environments to quickly check and track visitor information in the name of safety.
