Jewish War Veterans, (JWV), Institutionalize Challenge Coins Program at the National Level
The Jewish War Veterans, (JWV), has institutionalized its challenge coins program at the national and Post 126 levels (Southern New Jersey). The national coin is awarded only by the JWV National Commander to honor those individuals who have contributed to the betterment of active duty military, reserve component members, and veterans in programs or deeds that impact at the national or international level.
The JWV National Commander recently was on a tour of NATO headquarters and U.S. military hospitals in Europe, and presented JWV challenge coins to the NATO Commander and several of his deputies for the outstanding support and care of wounded troops coming through hospitals in Europe from Afghanistan and Iraq. The JWV National Commander also has presented challenge coins to State veteran leaders who implement and champion programs that have improved veterans care across state lines. The Post 126 (Southern New Jersey) challenge coin have been presented to community leaders for their outstanding support of returning military and those military being deployed into harms way. We have also presented coins to young men obtaining the Boy Scout rank of "Eagle Scout.” Also to those Boy Scouts that have honored our departed veterans by placing flags on their graves prior to Memorial Day for at least three, now up to 1,000 graves.
