New Handheld Radar from Decatur this Fall
Decatur, IL – This fall, Decatur Electronics, the nation’s oldest manufacturer of radar, is releasing a new handheld radar unit, the Scout.
The Scout will be battery-powered, running off 6 AA NiMh rechargeable batteries, making it easily transportable and easy to power.
“Decatur radar has always been accessible,” said Kris Pearson, Product Development Director. “We’ve always created radar with the officer in mind. The Scout is no exception. Because it runs on AA batteries, power for the Scout is available anywhere.”
The Scout will be released for sale in Fall 2007. Jim Sanner, Decatur CEO, is looking forward to the upcoming release.
“The Scout continues a long tradition at Decatur of leading the market,” he said. “Directional radar rarely comes this affordably nor this easily powered. No more cords, no more strange batteries. The Scout is the handheld radar police have been waiting for.”
Decatur Electronics has been making traffic radar for over 50 years, having created the first radar for law enforcement in 1955. In addition to the OnSite line of trailers, they also produce the Genesis line of radar which revolutionized the industry with regard to size with the Genesis I and affordability with the Genesis Handheld. New this year is their Gemini Plus Digital, an in-car video system for law enforcement featuring the highest digital recording quality in the industry.
