Results of the LA Sheriff's Department Use-of-Force Study on the TigerLight® Non-Lethal Defense System

Heber City, Utah. - In December Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department fielded 500 TigerLight® Non-Lethal Defense Systems at four stations including one Inmate Reception Center.

Although the study is not final and the data has not been analyzed and therefore cannot be considered conclusive, these preliminary reports are certainly worth significant attention by law enforcement organizations worldwide, says TigerLight CEO Michael Teig. Should this preliminary data prove anywhere near conclusive at the end of the study, it will be one of the most significant developments in law enforcement history.

Reported To Date:
Total Subjects - 138
Total Incidents - 47
Immediate Compliance - 128
Non-compliance - 2
Delayed Compliance With Some Additional Force Required - 4
Delayed Compliance With No Additional Force Required - 4
Effectiveness - 98.6% (3% of 98.6% required some additional force)
Total Injuries - 5 (Zero requiring medical treatment)
Serious Injuries - 0
Subjects Per Incident - 2.9
Estimated "Saves" - 9

"This is something we've known all along. It's something users have known for years", says Teig. "We have to give credit to Sheriff Baca, Commander Sid Heal and the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department for first recognizing the potential the TigerLight® has for increasing officer and civilian safety and reducing use-of-force related issues. We additionally recognize that LASD's exceptional command staff, trainers, supervisors and highly skilled deputies have greatly contributed to the results to date.
