Lancaster Co., PA Chooses BIO-key’s® MobileCop™ For Regional Information Sharing
Any Where, Any Time Flexibility and interoperability were key decision points in selecting BIO-key
Wall, N.J. – June 19, 2006 – BIO-key International Inc. (OTC Bulletin Board: BKYI), a leader in wireless public safety solutions and finger-based biometric identification today announced that Lancaster County, Pennsylvania has selected BIO-key’s MobileCop product. Twenty-five municipal law enforcement agencies in the county deploying MobileCop will share secure mobile messaging capabilities and access to local, state and federal criminal justice databases.
Located halfway between Philadelphia and Harrisburg, Lancaster County serves a population of over half a million people. With MobileCop, Lancaster County will have the ability to implement a regional information sharing capability, giving virtually all of the county’s law enforcement agencies the ability to communicate with one another as well as access the countywide databases and records management system.
According to Michael Burnette, Information Services Manager for Lancaster County, “We chose BIO-key because it gives us the ability to run handheld and car based mobile devices at the same time, and all have access to countywide information. We also intend to use MobileCop to expand our field reporting capabilities and provide access to our computer aided dispatch system in the future.”
“MobileCop is the perfect solution for law enforcement agencies looking to deploy regional information sharing capabilities. It’s a flexible, cost effective solution for officers to perform their own database queries and generate their reports from their patrol cars in the field, giving these first responders the ability to spend more time out in the communities they serve,” said Ken Souza, general manager of BIO-key’s Law Enforcement Division.
