BMW R 1150 GS Named Best Adventure - Tourer By Motorcyclist Magazine
For Immediate Release
Woodcliff Lake, NJ - Citing its superior on-road performance, editors of Moorcyclist Magazine selected the BMW R 1150 GS best adventure-tourer for 2001. The announcement appears in the November issue of Motorcyclist, which features the magazine's annual MOTY (Motorcycle of the Year) Awards.
Earlier this year, the BMW R 1150 GS was selected as Rider's top adventure-touring motorcycle over other eligible models such as the Aprilia Pegaso 650, the BMW F 650 GS, the Kawasaki KLR650, KTM Adventure R, Triumph Tiger 955i, and Moto Guzzi Quota 1100. From the Paris-Dakar Rally to the International IronButt Rally, the GS has been a consistent top performer and is one of the most popular bikes of all time for endurance riders. Equipped with standard ABS II, the BMW R 1150 GS allows the rider to make straight, sure stops, particularly on wet roads or slippery surfaces.
The current model line of BMW motorcycles available at BMW retail centers has won 33 honors from the enthusiast and lifestyle press in the U.S., including seven "Motorcycle of the Year" awards.
Reflecting this praise, BMW motorcycle sales continue to set a record pace for growth with an increase of nearly 20 percent over last year.
