Cedar Forensic to Distribute Salient Stills' VideoFOCUS in UK and Europe

CEDAR Forensic, a division of CEDAR Audio Ltd (UK), is pleased to announce a Sales and Distribution Agreement for VideoFOCUS, the image restoration package from Salient Stills

CEDAR Forensic provides the tools needed by Forensic Audio/Video laboratories in the fight against crime and terrorism. To this end, the company has concluded a sales and distribution agreement with Salient Stills for the VideoFOCUS image enhancement package, supplying directly to customers in the UK, and via a growing network of Forensic Dealers throughout Europe.

Gordon Reid, Managing Director of CEDAR Audio says, “CEDAR has contributed for more than a decade in the field of forensic audio, supplying to national police forces, regional forces, law enforcement bureaux and air accident investigation bureaux worldwide. When our Regional Manager in Asia, David Robinson, first saw VideoFOCUS, he recognised that this was a complementary technology that would allow us to offer complete solutions for Forensic (audio and video) laboratories. We approached Salient Stills in 2003, and after detailed discussions at the 115th AES Convention in New York, we reached agreement in principle to distribute VideoFOCUS in the UK and much of Europe. Everything is now in place, and CEDAR Forensic will begin marketing and supplying VideoFOCUS immediately.”

VideoFOCUS is a unique software environment that creates clear, printable images from all types of video sources, analog or digital, low or high quality. It offers distinctively higher quality output images than simple 'frame averaging' or de-interlacing approaches. The software is backed by a committed support and maintenance package, and can be purchased as software only or with hardware to meet specific needs.

The software is used by law enforcement agencies for resolving surveillance and crime scene video, and by newspapers, magazines and advertising agencies for enhancing high-quality video for use in print and publication.

Other features include video capture and import, de-interlacing, demultiplexing, quad separation, motion tracking and alignment, field of interest, zoom, video editing, media management, and video & image archiving.
