FBOP USP Field Tests the Rapid Rotation Baton System
The Federal Bureau of Prisons is field tesing the RRB Systems International's new Rapid Rotation Baton
Marion, IL: Batons have always posed a problem for Correction officials. Not only are they difficult to use and manuver in the tight confines of the prison environment, but quite frankly, they have historically been considered unsafe for both the officers and the inmates.
The straight batons which populate most prison armories were never designed nor have they been redesigned for cell entries. Yet they are used by baton teams throughout America who are charged with subduing violent and aggressive inmates. Having these large, cumbersome batons is often a greater risk than not having them at all, where controlling striking zones and maintaining a solid defense is virtually impossible due to their bulkiness.
The Rapid Rotation Baton with its ergonomic design and accompanying safety holster seems to be just what the warden ordered. This baton system can be held in an extended or shielded position for both offensive and defensive manuvers. It rapidly changes from a close quarter protection device to a longer range striking tool, all with the simple flick of the wrist. Baton teams who carry the RRB quickly realize the advantages that come with a baton that can be controlled in the close quarters and used in the most compact environment.
USP Marion will field test the RRB System in the coming months and render its opinion after a full evaluation. Other Correctional agencies have already begun to look at the Rapid Rotation Baton System for their own use.
Testimonial
"I recently completed the RRB training at USP Marion for our Pilot Program. Not much really impresses me but this Baton more than impressed me. I do want to purchase one for myself so that I can continue to develop my skills with it. But more so, I came to the Bureau of Prisons out of a Law enforcement setting and still am very close to many Law Enforcement officers on the street. I have told them about this baton and have peaked some curiosities. I do see more positive aspects of this baton in the Police Officer role. For years I carried an Expandable ASP baton and now I wish that I had this available to me then. Anyway.... KUDOS to you and your product. I hope that I can turn some business your way."
