HENDERSONVILLE, Tenn. — Hendersonville Police Department officers will be safer and more comfortable, thanks to a donation valued at more than $12,000, HPD Assistant Chief James Jones said. The department recently received 130 new vest enhancers, enough for all officers, from two Hendersonville companies.

Marketed as CTAV, the vest enhancers will benefit officers in two ways. The enhancers come with a pump that blows air into them, creating an additional padding on both sides of the bulletproof vest. That padding creates a cushion that helps minimize blunt force trauma if an officer gets shot or hit.

Jones received the donation offer from Hendersonville-based Cortac, which produces the vest enhancers. Cortac officials had partnered with Hendersonville-based U.S. Pest Protection, who paid for the donation.
