New Orleans PD recieves new body armor
From staff reports The Times-Picayune NEW ORLEANS — A Metairie company that provides business services to dentists and orthodontists worldwide donated eight body armor suits to the New Orleans Police Department, the company announced Thursday. OrthoSynetics announced the donation at a ceremony Thursday at police headquarters. "We appreciate all the help the community can give," NOPD spokesman Bob Young said in an interview later in the day. Young said body armor and bullet-resistant vests typically have three-year warranties and that the department is forced to continually rotate equipment. The company recently approached the NOPD and said it wanted to help out. "Our company's employees and families live, work and play in this community, and we feel our police officers should be fully protected while they work to keep us safe," company president Chris Roussos said in a released statement. "We hope this contribution helps protect our police officers, make our community stronger, and demonstrates our commitment to the New Orleans community."
