Survival Armor uses OAD instead of CAD Patterns
Real Life Sizing for Today's Streets
In today’s environment most manufacturers use Computer Aided Design to develop their ballistic coverage. The computer takes into consideration shapes and sizes that give maximum material utilization. This enables these manufacturers to maximize profits.
Survival Armor has chosen to use the Officer Aided Design method to develop their ballistic pads. We have taken the sizing templates developed for NIJ standards testing, and in conjunction with officer input, developed ballistic pads with enhanced coverage.
The designs that were acceptable in the past no longer fulfill the needs of today’s law enforcement. With officer input, we were able to maximize coverage without sacrificing comfort. While patterns tend to move from company to company, with three or four manufacturers providing the same amount of coverage, Survival Armor has broken the chain. We asked officers where they would like additional coverage. And we listened. Every inch helps. The feedback from officers wearing our new designs has told us we are moving in the right direction. We say moving because we will continually listen and not be locked into “the way it’s always been”.
