Video: Fla. dept. deploys AXON systems

Device is headset that records hours upon hours of audio and video from the officers' perspective

CAPE CORAL - Cape Coral Police are among the first to get their hands on new technology and it could eventually eliminate the need for a dashcam.

The system, made by TASER, is called AXON - Autonomous eXtended on-Officer Network. It's essentially a headset that records hours upon hours of audio and video from the officers' perspective.

"The AXON system is similar to a bluetooth headset where the officer will wear it on their person and they will be able to have a true officer's-eye view of interactions," explained Lieutenant Tony Sizemore with the Cape Coral Police Department.
