Northcentral University Selected to Participate in New Maritime Law Enforcement Partnership Program

Prescott Valley, AZ (Business Wire) Strengthening its commitment to serve the members of the United States Armed Forces with the very best educational degree programs and opportunities, Northcentral University (military.ncu.edu), an innovator in 100% online education, today announced that it has been selected by the United States Coast Guard to participate in a new Maritime Law Enforcement Partnership Program to help educate America’s maritime law enforcement professionals.

One of only ten colleges and universities selected by the U.S. Coast Guard to participate in this groundbreaking educational initiative, Northcentral University is now incorporating the program’s credit recommendations into its Bachelor of Business Administration degree in Homeland Security, which will now offer a Maritime Enforcement concentration, according to Dr. Lynn W. Payne, Dean of the School of Business and Technology Management at Northcentral University.

“Long a valued partner of the United States Coast Guard, Northcentral University has been on the ground floor since this program’s inception. Coast Guard members that complete the BBA Homeland Security degree will now be able to continue their educational journey into a Northcentral graduate studies program. Always at the forefront of distance learning, Northcentral continues to lead the way in providing our Armed Forces professionals with the degree programs that will allow them to achieve their long-term career and life objectives,” Dr. Payne said today.

Northcentral University is 2010 Military Friendly School, as determined by G.I. Jobs magazine. This designation places Northcentral in the top 15% of all colleges, universities, and trade schools nationwide.

The new Maritime Law Enforcement College Partnership Program is being developed by FC-5, the Performance and Doctrine Division, the Maritime Law Enforcement Academy (MLEA) and the Coast Guard Institute, with 10 key colleges. The program is designed to assist Coast Guard law enforcement professionals in maximizing credit received for their training to compliment their CG experience with applicable and specific academic study.

MLEA graduates are now able to receive up to 14 college level course credits through the American Council on Education (ACE). Additionally, through partnering with the Coast Guard Institute, each student, after completion of an accredited MLEA course, receives an email informing them of how many credits they just earned.

The academic partners for the Maritime Law Enforcement College Partnership Program are: American Military University, Bellevue University, Northcentral University, Penn State, Roger Williams University, Saint Leo University, Thomas Edison State College, University of Maryland University College, Oklahoma University and Vincennes University.
