The motorcade crash happened shortly after 5 p.m. ET, police said. The president's vehicle was not reported to be involved in the accident.

Obama was in Texas on Monday in part to raise money for Democratic candidates.

In 2008, a Dallas police motorcycle officer died from a crash during an escort for then-presidential candidate Hillary Rodham Clinton. The family of Senior Cpl. Victor Lozada has since filed a lawsuit against Clinton and city of Dallas.
