CHICAGO — The dozen members of the start-from-scratch Inverness Police Department, which officially begins work Friday, are all veterans who came out of retirement to launch second careers in law enforcement.
"All of these guys have a minimum of 25 years," said Police Chief Robert Haas, Jr. who will oversee the village's first police department. "I don't consider them r-e-t-i-r-e-d. I consider them experienced, veteran officers."
