Colo. sheriff's recruit dies in physical test

Associated Press

PUEBLO, Colo. — A 34-year-old recruit for a Colorado sheriff's office collapsed and died after the department's physical agility test.

Pueblo County Sheriff Kirk Taylor says that Sergio Aragon collapsed Monday at a high school track after running about a half-mile as part of a standard physical agility test.

CPR failed to revive Aragon, and he was pronounced dead at a hospital. An autopsy is pending.

Aragon was among about 275 people seeking detention deputy positions. The physical agility test included running, crawling through a small tube and dragging a dummy.

Aragon was one of the first to finish before collapsing.
