Oakland ambush: Remember the fallen On March 21, 2009, four brave Oakland officers were killed in the line of duty — engaged in the noble but dangerous calling that is law enforcement. Officers Mark Dunakin, John Hege, Ervin Romans and Daniel Sakai are remembered for their dedication to their families, friends, and a gritty job they loved despite the risks involved.
