Decatur Electronics Hosts How It’s Made Film Crew
Decatur, IL – Last month, Decatur Electronics hosted the How It’s Made film crew at their manufacturing facility in Decatur, IL.
How It’s Made is shown on The Discovery Channel in the United States, as well as several other channels worldwide.
“They called our office to say they were interested in filming how a radar unit is made,” said Jake Tolbert, Marketing and Communication Specialist for Decatur. “Having a chance to share what we’ve been doing for fifty years on national TV was a chance we jumped at.”
The crew, based out of Quebec, Canada, arrived in the early morning, June 24, and filmed for nearly 8 hours. The hours of video footage captured will then be edited down to a 4 ½ minute segment for the show.
“We’ve been creating radar for law enforcement since our founder created the first radar for law enforcement in the mid50s,” said Kris Pearson, Marketing and Product Development Director for Decatur.
Video of the film crew at Decatur, as well as more information about the GHD radar unit are available at Decatur’s website: www.DecaturRadar.com.
“Working with police to keep our streets safe is our number one priority. They filmed the manufacture of our Genesis Handheld Directional, our handheld radar. Giving the public a chance to see how those safety tools are manufactured fit right into our priorities.”
In addition to the Genesis Handheld, Decatur also produces a full line of Genesis radar units. They also created the new Shadow 800, a digital video unit for law enforcement designed to provide an affordable and flexible video solution as well as the OnSite line of speed and message trailers.
