New World Systems Will Help Jeffersonville Police Department (Ind.) Manage Significant City Growth
Troy, Mich. —The Jeffersonville Police Department, Ind. has signed a contract to license New World Systems’ Aegis/MSP® Public Safety Solution on the Microsoft® platform to replace aging technology and help them respond to emergencies in the growing City.
The City of Jeffersonville officially annexed four zones in February 2008, and is expected to add two more zones soon, increasing the City population from 27,000 to an estimated 38,000 residents. To keep up with the City’s larger public safety needs, the Police Department began adding staff and looking for a new, robust and state-of-the-art software system.
“We are located in the Louisville, Ky. metro-area, so it was important that we select a solid company with a proven track record in like-size major metro areas,” said Assistant Chief Kevin Morlan. “We visited other agencies and learned that, after thorough evaluation and implementation, New World Systems was the best overall system. That is exactly what we were looking for.”
New World will provide the Jeffersonville Police Department with integrated Computer Aided Dispatch (CAD), Records Management, Mobile Computing and Field-Based Reporting software developed in-house using proven Microsoft® technology, industry-standard Windows® Server and SQL® Server. New World’s use of advanced Microsoft technology ensures a seamless flow of data through all applications, which will significantly enhance access to information for Jeffersonville officers and detectives.
For the first time, Jeffersonville officers will be able to search critical information and submit incident reports from their vehicles in the field using New World’s Mobile Computing and Field-Based Reporting applications. Currently, all information is communicated to officers in the field by Jeffersonville dispatchers. The new system will remove the burden from the dispatchers, saving time for both the communications staff and the officers in the field.
“We are very excited to provide our officers with critical information at their fingertips while they are on patrol,” said Assistant Chief Morlan. “Because of our proximity to the Port of Indiana on the Ohio River, the City of Louisville and a Federal installation, we are at a heightened terrorism awareness level. It’s very important to get any information we have out in a timely manner, and New World’s software will allow us to do that.”
New World’s strong reputation for support and consistent software upgrades was also key in the Police Department’s decision to partner with the Company. Both New World and the Police Department are looking forward to a long partnership.
“We’re excited about our City’s growth and potential,” said Assistant Chief Morlan. “Based on everything we have seen, we are confident New World’s technology will allow the new solutions to grow with us.”
