Ore. driver films speedometer at 140 mph, gets arrested

He said he was videotaping his speedometer as well as his arrest so that he could post the video to YouTube

By PoliceOne Staff

PORTLAND — A man in Oregon drove his car more than 140 miles per hour while filming his speedometer with plans of posting the video to YouTube.

But don’t try searching for it online; it never made it.

Stanislav Vadimovich Bakanov was pulled over on Interstate 5 Saturday while driving his 2005 BMW at a clocked speed of 118 mph. The video was confiscated and he was taken to jail.

When Deputy Ryan Postlwewait asked Bakanov why he was filming, the driver said he was videotaping his speedometer as well as his arrest so that he could post the video to YouTube, according to Reuters.

When the department reviewed the video, they learned that he exceeded speeds of 140 mph.

Bakanov was charged for the third time in a year, this time for reckless driving and speeding.
