The Morning Call

A 29-year-old Reading man who led police on an hourlong chase Monday morning through Berks and Lebanon counties told an emergency dispatcher during the chase that he would end it "when I finish all my drugs," police said.

Shane T. Babel, 29, of 327 W. Oley St., rammed a stolen car into two state police vehicles as he fled from officers from both counties, police said in an arrest affidavit. Babel was finally stopped and charged with aggravated assault, mischief, receiving stolen property, simple assault, reckless endangerment, fleeing or attempting to elude police, driving under the influence of a controlled substance and reckless driving.
