A Horn Lake man rammed a police cruiser in an attempt to flee Monday morning, injuring one officer slightly.

Police Chief Darryl Whaley said police were responding to a domestic disturbance call at 6:36 a.m. Monday in the 3000 block of Fairmeadow.

"The caller stated that their son was on the property, that they had a restraining order, and that he had a history of narcotics use and violence," Whaley said.

Patrolman William Vrooman arrived and the suspect ran back to his truck, entered the vehicle and locked the door, ignoring Vrooman's commands to stop.

"He put his vehicle in reverse and began backing out of the driveway, hitting the cruiser of Sgt. Kenny Free, who had just arrived on the scene as backup," Whaley said.

The suspect then went forward with the truck, going through the yard of the residence.

Free had pulled onto the street and was paralleling the vehicle, attempting to box the suspect in. The truck struck Free's cruiser again, and when the suspect reached the end of the block, he rammed the car.

Then Vrooman rammed the truck, attempting to stop it, but the suspect kept going and drove through a yard where children were waiting for a school bus. The suspect then returned to the house, exited his vehicle and attempted to break down the door, Whaley said.

Free and Vrooman arrested Joe Neal Moore, 35, of Horn Lake. He faces charges including aggravated assault on a police officer and fleeing and eluding law enforcement. Whaley said Free received a sprained wrist when his cruiser was rammed.

Municipal Court Judge James Holland set bonds for Moore totaling $176,200.
