Dallas cop injured in high-speed chase
Dallas police officer faces 3rd surgery after high-speed chase

DALLAS — A Dallas police officer is being treated at Baylor University Medical Center for injuries after his squad car hit a tree during a high-speed chase that ended Saturday night in Pleasant Grove.
Officer Christopher R. Cordray underwent ankle and knee surgery Sunday. He is scheduled to have hip surgery today, Dallas police spokesman Gerardo Monreal said.
The chase began in Lake Highlands when a woman called 911 to report that her ex-boyfriend was trying to get inside the gate to see her at Oakwood Creek Condos, in the 7900 block of Skillman Street near Royal Lane.
Two officers arrived and parked near the man's vehicle. They got out to talk to him, but he sped off, crashing into both officers' cars.
"They had to jump out of the way to avoid him," Cpl. Monreal said.
In the ensuing chase, officers tried unsuccessfully to stop the suspect by puncturing his tires near Interstate 30 and Jim Miller Road.
Officer Cordray later hit a tree on Cheyenne Road about half a mile south of Lake June Road. The suspect abandoned his vehicle nearby and began running. Police captured him a few blocks away.
The suspect, identified by police as Jason Sneed, was jailed Sunday on charges of evading arrest and assaulting a public servant. Bail was set at $425,000.
Another officer drove into a ditch during the chase. No other injuries were reported.
