VALLEJO, Calif. Police arrested a Vallejo man who ran out of a courtroom Monday, police said Sunday.

Reginald McKinney, 43, was about to be remanded in a Vallejo courtroom Monday for domestic violence when he ran out into the parking lot and into the city, police said.

At about 8:10 a.m., police said they saw McKinney's car at a gas station on Springs Road. As he was walking out of the gas station's store, he saw the officers and ran back in, fleeing out the back door, police said.

An off-duty firefighter helped the officers in the foot pursuit, police said. McKinney allegedly tried to get into the passenger seat of an occupied car when police arrested him.

He was booked into Solano County jail.
