Officers said they spotted Matthew Rodriguez, 23, speeding on the concrete median

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — New Mexico State Police recently released dramatic dashcam video of officers trying to stop a wrong way driver who they said was drunk.

On the evening of Jan. 27, officers said they spotted Matthew Rodriguez, 23, speeding on the concrete median on Highway 550 near Hill Road and coming dangerously close to oncoming traffic.

"Driving on the curb, drove up onto the median, apparently he ran a red light," Lt. Robert McDonald said. State police said they chased the driver as he weaved into oncoming traffic. The driver later told police that he knew what he was doing, police said.
