Video: Wanted Mich. man hits cruiser, injures cop

Eugene Marr, 21, hits an officer and drives away when the cop intervened in a fight

By PoliceOne Staff

KALAMAZOO, Mich. — A man with several outstanding warrants remains on the loose after hitting a Kalamazoo Public Safety officer and fleeing.

In the video, Eugene Marr, the passenger in the vehicle stopped by police Wednesday, hits the officer and then drives away. The officer tried to intervene when Marr began to fight with the driver, according to reports, and suffered minor injuries from being struck.

After it sped away and dragged the original driver a short distance, the vehicle was recovered, The Kalamazoo Gazette reported. But "through his excessive speeds and reckless driving" Marr eluded authorities, and witnesses said Marr's friends picked him up to transport him away from the scene.

Police continue to search for the 21-year-old, whose warrants for resisting and obstructing are now supplemented with charges of car jacking and assault on a police officer.
