SOUTHFIELD, Mich. — A father, mother and son were inside the black sedan that is seen on video leading police on a chase through the snowy streets of metro Detroit, and a police source tells FOX 2's Andrea Isom the suspects were under the influence of heroin.

The chase began Wednesday afternoon when Southfield police spotted a vehicle driving the wrong way on the Lodge Freeway. Officers attempted to pull the car over but the driver sped off.

The car lead police on a chase through Southfield, Detroit and Highland Park. The car can be seen on SkyFOX video weaving dangerously in and out of traffic and fishtailing on the slippery roads.

The chase finally ended when the car crashed into another vehicle at Woodward Avenue and The Davison Freeway. The vehicle hit belonged to Patrick Caldwell.

"I actually [saw] the car but I couldn't maneuver, it just happened to fast. ... I just had to sit there for a minute. I closed my eyes, opened them again, because I thought it was a dream," he tells Isom.

Caldwell received a leg injury and went to the hospital.

As soon as the crash happened the driver of the pursued vehicle began running away. A police car cuts him off, and in the video he appears to have been tasered and punched by police.

The other male in the vehicle did not run and laid on the ground by the car until police apprehended him.

Isom was told the mother was placed in an ambulance.
