DAYTON, Ohio — Video captured the final statements of a burglary suspect who jumped to his death after escaping from a police cruiser.

Kylen English used his head to break the car window before leaping out of the vehicle and onto the bridge, where he jumped over the railing Saturday, the Associated Press reported.

“I want to die,” English is heard telling the police officer in the car. English is also heard banging his head against the window of the cruiser in the dash cam footage released Monday afternoon. At that point, the officer transporting English pulled over, the Dayton Daily News reported.

In the video, the officer is heard shouting as he watches English dive over the railing of the bridge, where he fell several stories onto a flat, rocky area.

He was taken to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead late Saturday night.

Moments before the fatal jump, English also asked the officer, “Do you believe you go to heaven if you kill yourself?”

The officer involved in the incident has been placed on administrative leave and is expected to return to duty Thursday pending results of an internal investigation, sources say.
