Tex. officer shot in training session

By RICHARD STEWART
Houston Chronicle

HOUSTON -- A police officer was shot through the arm by another officer during a training session at the Brazoria County Sheriff's Office gun range Tuesday.

Police refused to release the name of the 35-year-old officer, but reported that he remained in Memorial Hermann Hospital today.

"It didn't hit any bones and it didn't hit any vital organs," said Angleton police Lt. Mike Jones.

Jones said the officer was one of eight members of the department's Special Operations Response Team who were practicing entering a building. The bullet reportedly went through a wall before hitting the officer in the upper right arm.

It was the first time any Angleton officer had been hurt during a training exercise, Jones said.
