Video: Firefighter's attack on 2 women 'went unpunished'

The women claim they were denied police report because of his job

By PoliceOne Staff

HAMTRAMCK, Mich. — Two women from a Detroit suburb say they were attacked outside of a bar by an off-duty firefighter.

The alleged attack occurred in late February 2011, when the women were bar-hopping in celebration of Fat Tuesday, according to WXYZ.

Samantha Strozynski and Jennifer Panduren say they were hit by Detroit Firefighter Mike Risher, who was off-duty, after they accused him of following them out of a bar.

Video shows both girls staggering backward after being hit in the face.

A witness told 7 Action News that when he told one of the police officers at the scene what he saw, a cop responded: "I can tell you right now, not much is going to come of this because he's a Detroit fireman.”

Police did arrest Risher and Panduren for disorderly conduct but both charges were later dismissed by a judge.

Panduren claimed that no one will let her file a police report because the suspect is a firefighter.
