Video: Driver slams head-on into bus during pursuit

The suspect lost control as he rounded a corner during the chase and slid into the opposite lane

AUSTIN, Texas — A driver who was running from police in Austin, Texas died after he lost control of the stolen Jeep and slammed head-on into a metro bus.

The collision was captured on bus surveillance video and has been released to the public.

The driver, 43-year-old Paul Thomas Ray, was spotted by police during a drug transaction at a North Austin hotel, according to KVUE. That's where the chase began.

Ray lost control as he rounded a corner during the chase and slid into the opposite lane. He slammed directly into the front of the bus and was killed.

18-year-veteran bus driver Robin Hanks was injured, but survived the crashed and is now listed as being in good condition.
